No segregation No collection?

Cebu City¬† – The whole City of Cebu started the “No segregation No collection” last March 31,2011. This is in accordance of the City Ordinance 2031. But is this only in Cebu?

This is really a nice way to “seriously” start saving our environment. This is a good campaign from the Mayor of Cebu, Mayor Michael Rama.

Right after the announcement of the new City Ordinance 2031, Inayawn landfill was closed immediately and looked for a different place to start segregating the solid wastes. Local government bought some machines which they call Material Recovery Facility (MRF) to grind the wastes and produce useful products like fertilizers and other wastes that can be recycled or reused.

23 Barangay’s out of 80 already have Material Recovery Facility (MRF).

Collection of garbage for “malata” or biodegradable is done every Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday while “di malata” or non-biodegradable are collected every Tuesday, Thursday and Satruday.

All  Barangay Environment Officers (BEO) makes sure that every barangay is following the new City ordinance in segregating their garbage.
